[ It's only a few minutes until Five is texting him again. The staff made a bit of a fuss at seeing him limping but they thankfully didn't comment on it.]

I didn't know that beds could vibrate. I thought they only did that in movies from the 70s. It feels funny.

[He's bored on one of those stakeouts he knows isn't going to get anywhere tonight, so honestly he doesn't mind the back and forth texting a bit.]

Yeah some of them have got toilets that'll shoot water up your ass too.

[ It's appreciated because as much as Five argues with his family on an average day, he does enjoy their company. Or talking, in this case. ]

Ew. One of the wonders of modern technology, I guess...Fun as the bed might be, I'm working on cleaning the cuts now. They're not too deep but I honest to god don't remember how I got them. I found a paper with a telephone number on one of the pockets of my jacket but there's no name on it, there's only a lipstick kiss stamped on it.

[Diego hasn't really examined himself to see why he finds it weird that Number Five is out there being a ladykiller. Maybe he still can't get past the physical appearance even though he knows, logically they've both had thirty birthdays. Or in Five's case, nearly double that.]

Why don't you call her and ask her out? [Unless, you know, it's the Handler or something. It's not like Diego knows anything about her.]

Er...I don't think it's a wise idea. Could be a trap, or maybe it was just some kind of mockery.

[ Because yep, he's thinking of the Handler too, and the last time thing he needs is letting her know where he is, half drunk and vulnerable. ]

What kind of trap even works on you? [What even is the point of being able to zip in and out of places and do that time travel stuff?]

The way I see it, you're only staying the night. But if you're tired you should patch up and rest. [That's as best at juggling between being practical and being encouraging as Diego can manage.]

My powers have limitations too, I can't use them for a long time without getting too tired to teleport. The Handler knows it, some others might as well. [ Ey, he can push his powers a lot but he's still human. ] I'll look into it and maybe call the phone once I'm fully recovered. And away from our house, just in case.

Yeah good idea. I'll contact you if something comes up. How are you awake at this hour, though?

[ Is everyone in this family an insomniac, he wonders. ]

[Diego doesn't understand why Number Five would come all the way back here just to not bring his problems to them. Why even come back then?]

I'm on a stakeout. [As in, he's just some civilian sitting in a car watching shadows move past windows at an ungodly hour of the morning.]

It's what I've been doing. For a while now. The police can't handle everything.

The police also work in pair for a reason. You need someone to watch your back.

I think. We've always worked better alone. That's why the academy never worked out. [They can only blame their father figure for so long. When it comes down to it, he never got along with Luther, Allison always took Luther's side, Klaus is off in Lalaland half the time, Five and Ben have been gone for so long, and he never treated Vanya as well as he should have.

All he had for a while was Eudora. And then he didn't have her anymore.]
